Clearing and Restoring Drainage on a 40-Acre Highland Croft

Our team at Caledon Contractors recently completed the clearance and restoration of an existing drainage ditch surrounding a 40-acre croft in the Highlands. Over time, the ditch had become overgrown and blocked, leading to waterlogging and poor surface water management across the land.

Using our specialised equipment and local knowledge, we reinstated the full length of the ditch to restore natural water flow and help protect the grazing areas from future flooding. This kind of maintenance is essential for keeping agricultural land productive and accessible—especially in the unpredictable Highland climate.

We offer a full range of drainage solutions, including:

Clearing and restoring existing ditches and culverts

Installing new field drains and surface water systems

Improving access routes through boggy or waterlogged areas

Preparing land for agricultural or construction use

If you’re dealing with water issues on your land, get in touch. We work in some of the most remote and beautiful parts of the Highlands and offer free onsite surveys to assess what’s needed and provide a practical, cost-effective solution.
